Enabling a network without borders

Providing communication services can be a tough business. In spite of daunting challenges, mobile operator Zain Iraq has been able to prosper and build the widest-reaching network in the country, serving 8 million customers.

This success has turned the company into the second biggest in the Zain Group, which is present in 22 countries in the Middle East and Africa. In addition to providing reliable services locally, Zain is committed to creating a unified user experience across all its markets.

This is expressed in the company’s ”One Network” vision. Its aim is to give Zain customers the same reliable access to services and the same sense of belonging wherever they happen to be – and make this affordable, which is one of the biggest challenges in any emerging market.

Ali Al Dahwi, CEO of Zain Iraq, explains, ”If you have Zain in one country and are traveling to another country, your line will act as if it is local, under your own local tariff. This is a major breakthrough in the region.”
Nokia Siemens Networks shares Zain’s vision, and is providing the technology necessary to realize it, as well as making a long-term commitment to the region’s development.

Al Dahwi says, ”As the One Network expands throughout the Zain group, it will prove to be a major advantage for our customers and a major success for this partnership.”
