Industry leaders gather at Efficiency Forum 2009
Didn’t make it to the second annual Nokia Siemens Networks ThoughtShare Efficiency Forum in Istanbul?
Earlier this month fifty of the telecommunications industry’s most influential people – including CEOs, CFOs and CTOs – gathered in Istanbul for the second annual Nokia Siemens Networks ThoughtShare Efficiency Forum, held on 3 November – one day before Samena’s Convergence to Istanbul.
The purpose of the event was to discuss the opportunities that increasing efficiency can bring to Communications Service Providers (CSPs). One issue that was touched upon again and again was the relationship between efficiency and improving the customer experience.
Speakers included Roger Keenen, Head of Infrastructure & Customer Service Finance at Telefónica O2 UK. Keenan explained his company’s thinking about where to spend and where to save in their network and operations: “Use the money you save on things that customers don't value, and spend it on things that customers do value.”
This philosophy has paid off big time for O2, which in recent years has grown to become the number-one mobile CSP in the UK – perhaps the world’s most competitive market.
